The good news is that Mystic River is great on so many levels, great plot, characters you can identify with, extremely well written, holds your interest till the end, and on and on. This is my second Dennis Lehane book (Shutter Island was first) and I have to say, both of his books I've read were absolutely perfect. He doesn't waste tons of pages on useless words - he can say something so powerful in few words - and that is something I appreciate. I hate to read long winded descriptions of mundane things - and Lehane is most certainly not verbose. Wonderful ...more
