I'm an automotive painter and have used all types and brands of polishers and this unit is without competition my favorite. It's got a great feel and easy to change positions. It's electronic controls has a nice soft start which keeps the polisher from jerking to full speed which could cause loss of your grip or sling compound all over. I purchased the Makita 9227C after borrowing the Makita to try from a friend of mine. Overall I think the technology has improved since I started buffing cars in 1975. After struggling with my previous buffer for many years, the Makita with it's adjustible speed made the buffing of my sailboat better and easier. The pads that came with the buffer are another story.
